FOIA Requests
All FOIA requests must be made in writing by mail, personal delivery, or email, to the attention of the FOIA Office. MPPL does not have a required FOIA form; any written request will be honored.

FOIA Fees
The first 50 black-and-white pages (letter or legal size) are free; additional pages are $0.15 each. Color copies are charged at the actual cost of reproduction, and certification of documents costs $1.00. Records provided in electronic format are free if emailed; if physical storage is requested, you will be charged for the cost of the USB drive.
FOIA Request Response Time
Responses to commercial requests can be expected within 21 business days of the receipt of a written request. Responses to non‑commercial requests can be expected within 5 business days of receipt of a written request. If an extension is required, a FOIA Officer from the library will contact the requester.
FOIA Request Review Process
If your request for information is denied, or denied in part, you have the right to have your request reviewed by the Public Access Counselor (PAC) at the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. 5 ILCS 140/9.5(a). You can file your Request for Review with the PAC by writing to:

As per 5 ILCS 140/11, you also have the right to seek judicial review of your denial by filing a lawsuit in the State circuit court.

The Mount Prospect Public Library is a village library established under the Illinois Local Library Act. It serves the community of Mount Prospect, Illinois, by providing materials, information, resources, and services to meet the needs of residents. Each year, the library welcomes over 350,000 visitors, circulates more than one million physical and electronic items, and offers over 1,500 programs attended by more than 65,000 people.
The purpose of the Mount Prospect Public Library is identified through its Mission, Vision, and Core Values:

The Mount Prospect Public Library is governed by an elected, unpaid, seven-member board. All trustees may be contacted via email at board@mppl.org. The Library Board of Trustees maintains two standing committees, the Finance Committee and the Personnel Committee. All members of the Board serve on both committees. The library’s total operating budget for Fiscal Year 2026 is $11,601,817.90.

Employee compensation package information required under 5 ILCS 140/4 is available for public inspection in the library’s Administrative Office Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Members of the public may review this information in person during these hours. Vendor Information Reporting
