Who We Are
The Mount Prospect Public Library Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit corporation organized and existing under the Illinois General Not-For-Profit Corporation Act exclusively for charitable, literary and educational purposes. Contributions to the Foundation are deductible under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).
The Foundation was established in 1997 to create an endowment for future generations and to help fund Library programs. Our first event was the sponsorship of a children’s program celebrating Asian Pacific American Heritage month in the year 2000. Due to our generous donors, since then we have sponsored many special programs, events, artwork, and projects to enhance the Library experience.

A donor may leave to the Foundation a specific dollar amount or a specific percentage. All outright bequests to the Foundation are exempt from federal estate taxes.
Life Insurance or Retirement Plans
Consider naming the Foundation a beneficiary of a life insurance policy or a retirement plan, such as an IRA. Another option is to transfer the ownership of an insurance policy to the Foundation .
Charitable Remainder Trust
A donor may make a gift to the Foundation and receive direct financial benefits including an income for life for the donor and/or the donor’s spouse, and a charitable income tax deduction.
Gifts of Real Estate
A donor may make a gift of commercial or residential real estate and receive substantial benefits. Gifts of real estate may be made through an outright gift or via a bequest. Gifts of real estate also may be set up as a type of planned gift, such as a charitable remainder trust.

The Shakespeare Project of Chicago
The Shakespeare Project of Chicago has performed at the Mount Prospect Public Library since 2016 with their annual season of theatrical readings for patrons to see and hear Shakespeare and his contemporaries in a new light. As there are no sets, props, or costumes, audiences find the Project’s readings help truly experience Shakespeare’s words. A sampling of previous titles include:
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
“The course of true love never did run smooth.”
In dreams, anything is possible. The recipe for Shakespeare’s most popular comedy includes a group of two young lovers, some amateur actors, and, of course, an assortment of fairies, including Oberon and Titania, in the midst of a bitter custody battle. The play commences with a marriage and then the fun really begins.
Women Beware Women
“Never were finer snares for women’s honesties /than are devis’d in these days.”
In a world where men have all the power, what happens when women decide to take power for themselves? Marriages crumble, lust reigns supreme, widows are beguiled, passions slaked, revenge plotted, and power brokers may be caught in their own web. Women Beware Women by Thomas Middleton is hailed as a masterpiece of Jacobean drama: smart, slick and hilarious, it is arguably the playwright’s crowning achievement. A deliciously decadent soap opera of a play, it showcases bad behavior and features possibly the bloodiest, most inventive climactic scene in Jacobean literature, giving new meaning to “murder most foul.”
Much Ado About Nothing
“When I said I would die a bachelor, I did not think I should live till I were married.”
Don Pedro and his fellow soldiers, Benedick and Claudio have returned from war and visit the estate of Leonato, Pedro’s friend. There, Claudio falls deeply in love with Leonato’s daughter, Hero, while Benedick rekindles an old friendship with Leonato’s niece Beatrice. The stage is set for the ultimate battle of wits to ensue, combined with some intrigue stirred up by Pedro’s bastard brother Don John. Join us for one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies featuring a cast of Shakespeare Project favorites.
At 7 p.m. the preshow introduction begins. Following the play, a discussion and opportunity to interact with the actors and creative team will further enrich the experience. Seating is limited for each concert and registration is required. Stay tuned for upcoming programs offered in 2019/2020!
Mini Golf 2019
Join us as we host an 18-hole miniature golf course fundraiser at the Library for a day of family fun. This unique adventure will have golfers of all ages putting throughout the Library, between the stacks, through the reading areas, and down the stairs from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019. There will also be a 19th Hole entertainment area for players with refreshments, entertainment, games, and a raffle for fun prizes. The fee to play is $5 per person or $20 for a family of 4 or more.
The Foundation thanks all the organizations that have agreed to support the event with a sponsorship. Click here for more information to secure your spot as a sponsor.
This event is a fundraiser for the Mount Prospect Public Library Foundation (MPPLF). The MPPLF provides funding to the Library for special programs and projects that are otherwise unattainable with tax dollars.
