Website Accessibility Statement

The Mount Prospect Public Library is committed to ensuring that all users, including individuals with disabilities, have equal access to our digital content, applications, and online services.

The library has adopted the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1, Level AA as its standard for web accessibility. We strive to ensure that our website and digital materials conform to these guidelines wherever possible.

Accessibility Roadmap

The library maintains a documented, ongoing accessibility plan to identify, prioritize, and remediate barriers on our website. This roadmap demonstrates our good-faith efforts to provide equitable access to all users. Our roadmap includes:

Current Remediation Efforts

  • Reviewing existing web pages, documents, and applications for accessibility gaps
  • Prioritizing frequently used and essential content for remediation
  • Ensuring new content is created in accessible formats from the outset
  • Evaluating third-party resources and working with vendors to improve accessibility

Priority Improvements

  1. General Website Functionality – navigation, menus, forms, and interactive elements
  2. Compliance-Required Postings – Open Meetings Act (OMA) and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) materials, including board meeting schedules, agendas, and approved minutes
  3. Policies and Forms – library policies, applications, and downloadable forms
  4. Third-Party Resources – evaluating vendor content and applications for accessibility and working with vendors to improve compliance

Legacy or Archival Content

Some older or archival documents may not yet meet accessibility standards. The library is actively reviewing and remediating legacy content based on usage, priority, and available resources.
