ADA Policy 

  • Public service desk staff are ready to assist patrons with retrieval of materials.
  • Requests for accommodation at a public program must be received at least seven days prior to an event.
  • Any individual with a concern or complaint regarding the Mount Prospect Public Library’s compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act is requested to complete the complaint form, which is available at the Registration Desk.

Listening Assistance Device

The hearing assistance receiver is provided for people with some hearing loss. It is tuned to an FM signal which is connected to the Library’s sound system. Users need to provide their own earbuds or headphones which utilize a standard phono plug.

With a large screen, 5 contrast colors and high-definition images, this easy-to-use magnifier can be found at the Reference Desk.

ZoomText Magnifier/Reader

The ZoomText Magnifier/Reader program can enlarge and enhance computer screens, automatically speak each word typed, read documents, web pages, and email out loud, and more. Available in the Genealogy room.

Pebble HD Magnifier

This magnifier features high-definition clarity and multiple use settings. Ask for it at the Reference Desk.

NVDA Screen Reader / Windows 8 Magnifier

NV Access Screen Reader


The NVDA Screen Reader is available on enets 201-208, and Windows Magnifier is available on all enets. NVDA software will read the text on the screen and Windows Magnifier will allow users to enlarge the normal windows screen or zoom into a particular portion of the screen. Neither the NVDA Screen Reader or the Windows Magnifier software are enabled by default. If you wish to use one of these products, there is a shortcut on the computer’s desktop. Or, ask a staff member for help.
