Seeking Summer Reading Volunteers

Home » News » Seeking Summer Reading Volunteers

Join our library team by volunteering during Summer Reading! If you’re entering grades 7-12, the Youth department needs your help greeting families, registering children, and more!

We are so lucky to have an amazing community, and we know that many of our middle and high school students have been asking for volunteer hours for their clubs and honor societies. We hope this new opportunity will help teens get those hours.

To be a part of this great experience, students need to complete an application and attend a mandatory training session on either Friday, June 6 or Saturday, June 7. During training, volunteers will practice how to register readers and check them in to receive prizes.

From June 9 through August 1, our Summer Reading Volunteers will commit to working a regularly scheduled, two-hour shift each week. At the end of the summer, volunteers will be invited to come together to celebrate their hard work!

By showing up for the mandatory training session, volunteering two hours per week, and attending our summer’s-end celebration, participants will be eligible to receive approximately 18 hours of volunteer service.

Interested in this opportunity? Please fill out an application online or in-person before May 15. After May 15, we will contact volunteers about training, shifts, and other important details.
