Miss Amy and her paper mosaic

Mosaic is the art of decorating a surface with pictures and patterns made of little pieces of stone, glass, or tiles of different colors. Mosaics are sometimes used outdoors on pavements.

Watch Miss Amy’s video to see how to make your own mosaic out of paper!

Supplies: scissors, paper, glue, markers or crayons

Steps:

1. Draw a design on the paper. Think about what sized little pieces you will use between lines.

2. Choose the paper you will use for the tiny mosaic pieces, and rip or cut them into little pieces. Tearing paper into small pieces can be fun and satisfying! The act of tearing encourages useful finger and co-ordination skills.

3. Glue on your many tiny pieces between the lines, thinking about your design plan and if you would like to make a pattern.
