Let’s celebrate Día del Niño!
Día del Niño, or Children’s Day, is a special day celebrated annually on April 30 in Mexico, and it has become a beloved tradition in the United States.
Besides Monther’s Day and Father’s Day, children have their special day too! On Día del Niño, children should feel special and loved. In Mexico and other Latin countries, festivals, music shows, magicians, and special events are hosted for children on this day.
The library is honoring Día del Niño throughout April. Día del Niño recognizes the importance of literacy for all children regardless of their home language or cultural diversity in literature, and how respect for different cultures strengthens communities.
Celebrate Día del Niño with programs for kids of all ages and pick up a Día del Niño craft kit from the Youth desk or South Branch beginning April 15. While supplies last.

Esli serves as the Youth Outreach Librarian for the Mount Prospect Library. Her role involves catering to the changing needs of the community through various means such as providing library resources, conducting outreach activities, Spanish interpretation and translations, and organizing programs like Homeschool Hangout, Bilingual Lotería, and Developmental Playgroup. Esli is committed to making library resources easily accessible to everyone in the community and strives to engage patrons and partners wherever they may be.
