Homeschool families, we are here for you.

If you are a homeschooling family in our community, you’ll be delighted to know that the Mount Prospect Public Library is here to support you. Our Youth Department provides a wide range of free resources, including databases, Local Groups/Co-ops, books, and websites, which are designed to cater to all levels of experience. Our goal is to offer the best possible resources to support your home-based learning experience.

Mount Prospect Public Library strives to connect people to resources that spark innovation within their lives. We provide access to the FlashForge Creator Pro 2 to engage the community with new and emerging technologies.

Meeting Rooms

Rooms are available one hour after opening to one hour before closing for groups of 15-100.

Study Rooms

Enclosed study rooms for one to four people are available in the Youth and Adult Department.

National Geographic Kids.

There are various forms of media available that explore topics such as animals, science, history, cultures, the environment, and more. These may include pictures, books, and magazine articles.

Explora: An EBSCO Experience.

Elementary school students can access full articles from magazines like Highlights and Ranger Rick, as well as full-text reference materials.

Khan Academy.

A world-class STEM education is accessible to everyone with 3,600+ video lessons for lifelong learning.

Brainfuse HelpNow.

HelpNow is a service that provides students with live access to tutors for homework help, skills building, and test preparation.

Bookflix.

BookFlix is an exciting online literacy resource that pairs interactive, fictional video storybooks with related nonfiction eBooks.

Britannica Education.

This encyclopedia is filled with numerous articles and recommended websites, making it an excellent source for beginners who are conducting research online.

PebbleGo.

The username is mppl and the password is library. Explore animals, science, social studies, and biographies in English and Spanish.

Scholastic Teachables.

Access a wide range of educational materials such as worksheets, mini-books, printable packs, and lessons in English and Spanish to use at school or home. Login with username: mppl and password: library to explore topics including animals, science, social studies, and biographies.

Double J Riding Club Equine Science Homeschool Program

A safe learning environment where horse riding students of all ages and levels can develop their riding skills, make friends, gain confidence through accomplishment, and have fun while pursuing a life-long sport.

Homeschool Kingdom (HSK)

A co-op with classes to homeschool students of all ages on Fridays. In addition to students aged K-8, HSK offers fun and challenging class options for high school.

Johnsburg Public Library

Homeschool Resource Center. All materials (books, curriculum resources, games, and equipment) can be checked out by anyone with a valid Illinois library card.

Arlington H.O.U.S.E. Homeschool Group

Arlington H.O.U.S.E. is an open support group for homeschooling families in and around the Chicagoland area – Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, Mount Prospect, Palatine, Rolling Meadows, and surrounding areas.
