The Mount Prospect Public Library (MPPL) announces the appointment of Andrea Shaeffer to its Board of Trustees. The Board appointed Shaeffer to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Rosemary Groenwald. The term runs until the next Consolidated Election in April 2027.

Shaeffer has 20 years of experience in investing on behalf of institutions and leads the investment risk management function at PPM America, Inc., an asset management firm headquartered in Chicago. She currently serves as a member of the Steering Committee for the Chicago chapter of the Global Association of Risk Professionals. Previously, her professional work experience included positions at The Boeing Company and Nationwide Insurance.

“We welcome Trustee Shaeffer to our team and look forward to her contributions,” said Board President Kristine O’Sullivan. “With her deep knowledge of finance and long-standing commitment to the library through her volunteer work with the Friends of the Library, Andrea brings exceptional skills to help ensure that our Board strategically plans for the future.”

O’Sullivan continued, “The Board of Trustees is committed to fiscal responsibility while meeting the dynamic needs of our community and patrons who rely on the library for its essential services.”

According to Trustee Shaeffer, her motivation for joining the Board stems from a deep appreciation for the library’s role in the community. “The Mount Prospect Public Library was a major reason my husband and I chose to make the village our home. I feel fortunate to have an opportunity to help preserve this cornerstone of our community.”

Shaeffer earned her MBA with high honors from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and bachelor’s degree in mathematics and economics from Hope College.
