Collection Resource Manager – Collection and Bibliographic Services

New position. The Mount Prospect Public Library (Illinois) is seeking a strategic leader. Working collaboratively with MPPL’s public service departments, the Collection Resource Manager will ensure that the various collections support and further the Library’s mission and strategic collection goals. Acquisitions Manager – Collection and Bibliographic Services

New position. The Mount Prospect Public Library (Illinois) is seeking an Acquisitions Manager to manage all aspects of the acquisitions function, including serials management, standing order and subscription management, digital media maintenance, electronic resource maintenance, and to oversee all business and operational-related tasks. This position will compile the relevant data, analyze and report on collection budget trends and patterns, and forecast those trends using mathematical models and statistical techniques. Manager will work collaboratively with department heads, Business Manager, and the Collection Resource Manager. Position directly supervises the Acquisitions Supervisor, Acquisitions Clerk and the Mail/Periodicals Clerk. Member of the leadership team. Requires excellent communication skills, ability to interpret and explain data, excellent Excel skills, a positive and flexible approach to problem solving, ability to think strategically, excellent management skills, ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff and work styles, knowledge of library acquisitions best practices and processes, and knowledge of public agency purchasing practices. MLS from ALA accredited library school required. Substitute Patron Assistant – South Branch

Substitute Patron Assistant position available. This position is responsible for providing basic information services: ready reference, reader’s advisory and information and referral. Position includes staffing the public service desk, library instruction, compiling/assembling patron aids, developing bibliographic aids, maintaining files, performing circulation/registration functions, and providing basic computer/office equipment troubleshooting. There is extensive contact with the public within the Library and Community Connections Center. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to access, input and retrieve data from the computer required. Bachelor’s Degree required. Ability to speak conversational Spanish required. Proficiency in other languages a plus. $14.80 hourly pay.

South Branch is located at the intersection of Algonquin and Busse Roads, Crystal Court shopping center.

Substitute hours will be scheduled between the hours of 11 am and 7:30 pm, including some weekends.

Web Content Editor

The Mount Prospect Public Library is looking for a Web Content Editor to maintain the Library’s public website and Intranet. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in digital platforms, content management systems, graphics production, writing and editing skills. Exceptional communication skills are required, including verbal and writing skills, grammar and punctuation. Strong organizational skills and a high-level of experience with WordPress are also essential. The daily tasks of this position will be creating and uploading content while maintaining our staff web-based user accounts. This position allows creativity in creating graphics and video to support that content. Candidate must be self-starting and capable of working autonomously on assigned projects using excellent time management skills. Bachelor’s degree required.

This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week, position with benefits. The position has a flexible schedule working on-site (not remotely) in the IT Department under the IT Supervisor. Salary: $35,000 to $38,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits and IMRF.

Part-time position available from June 7 to August 9.  Position includes working with children, including special needs and ESL. Provides storytimes and promotes summer reading at schools and other sites. High school diploma required. Keyboarding and computer experience required. Experience with or educational training for children, ages 3 to 8 required. $10.83 per hour. Spanish language skills a plus. Must have a valid Illinois driver’s license. Scheduled for 20 hours a week: four hours a day for nine weeks.  Some flexibility with scheduling may be required.
