Mount Prospect

A-OK Program

Through this intergenerational home maintenance program, student volunteers from District 214 high schools help older adults with tasks such as:

• Yard cleanup
• Minor plumbing repairs
• Raking leaves
• Testing/installing smoke detectors

Students are supervised by knowledgeable adult volunteers. Services are available to homeowners 60 years of age or older who live within the attendance area of a District 214 high school and meet low-income eligibility guidelines. The Kids Pantry

Located on the grounds of Christian Life Church, volunteers are needed to bring items from the shed to inside storage, sorting and on the day of clothing giveaways. Info on Facebook or by phone/email: 224-334-2074 or thekidspantry@gmail.com.

Lemons of Love

Support for people undergoing treatment for cancer. Contact: lemonsoflove14@gmail.com.

Center of Concern

No experience necessary–training provided! Most positions are available on a flexible-time basis. Some opportunities are friendly visiting, shopping and errands, photography, holiday gift delivery and office duties. In person and remote volunteer opportunities available.

• Volunteers from 7th – 9th grade are now able to volunteer when clients are present with a
  parent, guardian or group chaperone.
• Volunteers from 10th – 12th grade may volunteer when clients are present without parental
  supervision but must work side by side with an adult volunteer.
• All volunteers younger than 7th grade may volunteer when clients are not present.
