Study rooms for individuals and small groups requiring a private workspace are available at the Library and can be reserved for up to two hours per day.  

Who can Reserve a Study Room?

Advance reservations for study rooms can be made up to one week in advance by:

  • Mount Prospect residents
  • Students of Mount Prospect schools
  • Employees of Mount Prospect businesses or government

Identification will be requested to verify residency. Nonresidents may use study rooms on a walk-in basis, subject to availability.

How to Reserve a Study Room

Patrons may reserve a room online *, at the Research or Youth Desks, by chat, or by calling 847-253-5675.

* Rooms 2B – 2I can be reserved online in advance. Valid Mount Prospect Library card number and PIN is required to reserve online.

Study Room Guidelines 

  1. Study Rooms have a time limit of up to two hours per day per patron or per group. Reservations for Study Rooms may be made up to one calendar week in advance.  
  2. Reservations are held for fifteen minutes.  
  3. Excessive noise or use of hazardous materials is prohibited and may result in a request to leave. In study rooms, normal conversation levels are to be used in the rooms so as not to disturb others. 
  4. Food is not allowed. Beverages must be in covered containers. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted.  
  5. Room must be left clean and neat.  
  6. Items left unattended in a Study Room for more than ten (10) minutes, or when a reservation has ended, will be taken to the Patron Services Desk on the first floor of the library.  
  7. The library is authorized to deny permission to use the meeting or study rooms to any group or individual that is disorderly or violates these guidelines. 

Users who do not follow the Study Room Policy and Guidelines may be suspended from future reservations.

Study Rooms & Amenities

Second Floor Study Rooms (6th grade and up)
  • 2A – Accommodates up to 15 people, minimum of 3 people required, screen with HDMI cable and whiteboard. (To reserve, contact the Research Desk.)
  • 2B – Accommodates up to 8 people, whiteboard.
  • 2C, 2D, 2E – Accommodate up to 4 people.
  • 2F, 2G – Accommodate up to 8 people, whiteboard.
  • 2H, 2I – Accommodate up to 8 people, screen with HDMI cable and whiteboard.
  • 2J – Accommodates up to 10 people, PC with large screen monitor (50”) and webcam, table-top power and HDMI connection for patron devices. Use of this room is restricted to patrons 18 and older. (To reserve, contact the Research Desk.)

First Floor Study Rooms

  • Two study rooms in the Youth Department accommodate up to 6 people. Priority is given to children and adults working with children.
