Volunteering at the Library for Teens (grades 6-12)

The Library offers regular volunteering sessions for teens to work on community service projects at South Branch on the 2nd Monday of each month and the Main Library on the 3rd Friday of each month. Please check our calendar to sign up for upcoming sessions.

Volunteering at Home for Teens (grades 6-12)

Teens can earn up to 5 hours of online volunteer credit through the Mount Prospect Public Library during each session (January – May, June – August, September – December).

To receive service hour credit for these activities, email us at teenmail@mppl.org.

Write book reviews of teen books that might be featured on our Instagram or in the Library. Each review you write will count as 30 minutes of service. Email your reviews to the teen services librarians at teenmail @ mppl.org for credit! Please follow the guidelines below to earn your volunteer hours.

Book Review Writing Guidelines:

  • Tell us the name and author of the book.
  • Tell us a bit about what the book is about.
  • Tell us what you liked about the book.
  • Give it a rating out of 6 (where 6 means it was amazing, and 1 means you hated it).
  • Reviews should have proper spelling and punctuation, and focus mainly on what you liked about a book and who you would recommend it to.
