Part-time Page position available. Major responsibility is shelving library materials. Required to pass a skills exercise on the alphabetical and numerical arrangement of library materials. High school diploma or student. $8.27 per hour.

Readers Advisory Assistant – Fiction/AV/Teen Department

Part time Readers’ Advisory Assistant position available for an enthusiastic person who loves books and other pop culture and likes to talk about them. The job involves staffing a busy popular materials service desk serving both adults and teens. In addition it includes responsibilities for: book selection, creating advisory lists and displays, and facilitating book discussions. This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, writing and speaking skills, skill with working as part of a team, and contemporary technology skills. Bachelor’s Degree is required. $14.65 per hour.

Monday 10 am to 2 pm
Tuesday 10 am to 2 pm
Thursday 5 pm to 9 pm (every other week)
Friday 10 am to 2 pm
Some rotating weekend hours

Deputy Director Library Operations

Are you an experienced public library leader and manager with a passion for working collaboratively and a talent for administration? Mount Prospect Public Library (Illinois) has an excellent opportunity for a visionary leader to help shape the future of library services in conjunction with the Executive Director, Deputy Director Strategic Operations and Deputy Director Business Operations, along with a very talented management team. Consider bringing your expertise and experience to Mount Prospect Public as the Deputy Director Library Operations. Position will provide leadership and supervision of select department managers, will work with leadership to direct and administer library operations effectively, and will plan and work on major initiatives. The successful candidate will fully embrace the Library’s core service values and support organizational culture.

Candidate should have proven experience with developing and mentoring staff and managing organizational change; excellent communication skills; the ability to remain positive and flexible; a demonstrated ability to lead people and manage projects; strong knowledge of current and innovative public library services, information technology, facility management and collection development; upper level management or administrative experience; an understanding of public finance; strong interpersonal skills; and ability to adapt. Will assume duties of Executive Director in Director’s absence.

MLS from ALA accredited library school required. Progressively responsible management experience in public library. Minimum of seven years management and administrative experience. Upper management or administrative level experience in public libraries strongly preferred.  Salary $70,000 dependent on qualifications.
