Welcome to Winter Reading!

Reading Is Sweet for all ages when you read and listen to books this winter. Track your reading progress and earn rewards! Children up through grade 5 can Sign up for Winter Reading and complete a weekly activity to earn prizes and a chance to win a grand prize.   Badges change each week, so visit often for more chances to win!   Sponsored in part with generous support of the Friends of the Library.

How to register for Winter Reading Online:

Adults and Teens (Grade 6 and up): January 1 – February 28 

Sign up online at mppl.beanstack.org or pick up a reading log at the Main Library or South Branch.

What is Beanstack?

Beanstack is software that brings Winter Reading to you wherever you are online! You can track your reading, earn digital badges, and chances to earn prizes.

Visit Candy Castle

Youth services will be transformed into a life-sized game inspired by Candy Land® for the month of February. Families will check in at the youth desk and then travel through the game to visit the Gingerbread Castle, Gumdrop Garden, Chocolate Mountain, and Candy Castle.

How do I win fabulous prizes?

Nothing is sweeter than getting prizes for reading! 

Adult and Teen

Earn rewards after reading 1 book, 5 books, 10 books, and 15 books! 

Upstairs at the Fiction/AV/Teen desk or at the South Branch prizes include: 

  • Hot chocolate/bookmarks after 1 book read, 10 books read, and 15 books read.  
  • Read 5 books and earn a cool winter mug prize. 

All prizes are available while supplies last. 

Youth

Each week you complete an activity, stop in the library to: 

  • Receive a prize 
  • Be entered in a weekly drawing for a $5 gift card and book  
  • Be entered to win a grand prize. 

Grand Prizes include:  

  • Family Plus membership to Brookfield Zoo
  • Family Fun basket filled with games
  • Maker basket perfect for creative kids
  • Artsy Baby and Toddler basket with interactive art supplies
