mount prospect irish festIRISH FEST: Welcome the warmer weather and enjoy everything Irish on Friday (April 26) from 5 -11 p.m. and Saturday (April 27) from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. at the  8th Annual Irish Fest in downtown Mount Prospect (Chase Building parking lot 111 E. Busse Ave.). Some of the highlights on Friday include entertainment by They Might Be Irish featuring Matt Rowley! at 5:30 p.m. and Larkin & Moran Brothers at 8 p.m. Saturday’s lineup includes Irish Dancers at 10:30 a.m., The Dooley Brothers at 12:30 p.m. Mulligan Stew at 3 p.m., and The McGowen’s at 5:30 p.m. Closing out the night’s entertainment at 8 p.m. is They Might Be Irish featuring Matt Rowley!  Eats include Harrington’s corned beef and
fish ‘n chips as well as burgers and dogs from Firefighters Local Union 4119. A Beer Tent offering Guinness, Harp, Half and Half, lite beers and wine will also be available. SIX PIANO ENSEMBLE: Enjoy a unique performance of classical, ragtime and popular music as well as a symphonic repertoire on Saturday (April 27) 8 p.m. and Sunday (April 28) 3 p.m. in the Footlik Theater of Oakton Community College (1600 E. Golf Rd., DP).This popular event is conducted by Oakton professor and coordinator of music, Glenna Sprague. Critics from Vienna to Glasgow have hailed the Six Piano Ensemble as “innovative,” technically superb” and “musical.” Tickets are $17 general public, $14 for students/seniors or $12 for groups. DISPLAY VEHICLE STICKERS: All vehicles registered in the Village of Mount Prospect must display the 2019-2020 vehicle sticker by Wednesday (May 1). You can order online at or purchase in person at Village Hall (50 S. Emerson St.).

ELECTRONICS RECYCLING: Drop off unwanted electronics on Wednesday (May 1) from 10 a.m. – Noon at Mount Prospect Public Works facility (1700 W. Central Rd.). Items left outside of designated hours will not be collected. For details, call 847/870-5640.

JAN SCHAKOWSKY’S OFFICE: Meet privately with a representative from the office of Ninth District Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky on Wednesday (May 1) anytime between 2 – 5 p.m. at the Main Branch of Mount Prospect Public Library (10 S. Emerson St.). Ask questions about immigration, visas, Medicare, Social Security, veterans’ benefits and other federal services. Representatives from the Congresswoman’s office visit every Wednesday. This meeting will be held in Room 130 on the first floor.

COMMUNITY BREAKFAST/NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER: Observe a morning of positive reflection on Thursday (May 2) from 7:30 – 9 a.m. at Bristol Palace (828 E. Rand Rd.). Breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. The cost is $30 per person or $50 for two people. A table of eight is $200. To register, visit

FRIENDS BOOK SALE: Add to your spring and summer home library by shopping Mount Prospect Public Library Friends Book Sale Friday through Sunday (May 3-5) at the Main Branch (10 S. Emerson St.). Along with books, you will find DVDs, CDs and audio books – all at bargain prices. The Members Only sale is on Friday (May 3) from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. The General Public can browse and shop on Saturday (May 4) from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Sunday (May 5) from Noon – 4 p.m.

CONVERSATIONS IN ENGLISH: Practice your conversational skills in a friendly group setting with native English speakers on Thursday (May 2) from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at  Community Connections Center (1711 W.
