BEETLEMANIA: See the cutest bugs around on Saturday (Sept. 7) from 3 – 9 p.m. when the Bluesmobile Cruise Night features the VW Beetle in the Metra East Commuter Lot (SE corner of Emerson St. and Northwest Hwy.). The Northern Illinois VW Association (N.I.V.A.) will be on hand. Only a couple more Cruise Nights remain, so come on out and enjoy the show!

MARCHÉ FRANÇAIS: There is a “French Twist” to the Farmers’ Market on Sunday (Sept. 8) from 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. The Village of Mount Prospect’s Sister City Commission will host the market on Prospect Ave. east of Emerson St. The location is just south of the Mount Prospect Farmers’ Market held concurrently in the Metra East Commuter Lot. French-inspired vendors will offer linens, jewelry, photography, children’s books and one-of-a-kind finds. The Library will host a special storytime at 10 a.m. This event is a celebration of Mount Prospect’s relationship with their Sister City – Sèvres, France and promotes French culture in the community.

CONCERT IN THE PARK: Enjoy the sunset while listening to the band WACO on Sunday (Sept. 8) from 5 – 7 p.m. in the park at Capannari Ice Cream (10 S. Pine St.). Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and indulge in a yummy confection from Mount Prospect’s favorite ice cream shop.

D214 FOUNDATION GOLF OPEN: Here is a fun way to invest in a student’s future: Attend the Future Golf Open and Reception on Monday (Sept. 9) at the Rolling Green Country Club (2525 E. Rand Rd., AH). The Open features 18 holes of golf, brunch, on-course contests, on-course food prepared and served by District 214 culinary students and a reception with entertainment and food stations. Pricing is $250 for a single golfer, $1000 for a foursome, or $50 for the reception only which starts at 4:45 p.m. Sponsorships are also available. To register or for more information, visit

MEET WITH A REP: Talk with a representative from Anne Gillespie’s office on Tuesday (Sept. 10) from 3 – 6 p.m. or one from Jan Schakowsky’s office on Wednesday (Sept. 11) from 2 – 5 p.m.  in Room 130 of Mount Prospect Public Library (10 S. Emerson St.). Ask questions about immigration, visas, Medicare, Social Security, Veterans’ benefits and other federal services.

ELECTRONICS RECYCLING: Drop off unwanted electronics on Wednesday (Sept. 11) from 10 a.m. – Noon at Mount Prospect Public Works facility (1700 W. Central Rd.). Items left outside of designated hours will not be collected. This service runs until the end of October. For details, call 847/870-5640.

GARDEN CLUB: Join the Mount Prospect Garden Club on Wednesday (Sept. 11) for the program “Dahlia – Living Fireworks” presented by Carol Cuchorski at Friendship Park Conservatory (395 W. RULES OF THE ROAD: Seniors and those with disabilities can attend a free one-session Secretary of State Refresher Course on Thursday (Sept. 12) from 10 a.m. – Noon at Wheeling Township Headquarters (1616 N. —- DP RIVER TRAIL BIKE RIDE: Enjoy a family friendly event on Saturday (Sept. 7) beginning at 10 a.m. at the Historic Methodist Campground (1900 E. Algonquin Rd.).
