The Daughters Break the Rules by Joanna Philbin
YA PHILBIN, J.
All in all, this book was a great summer read, and on my list of Top 15 books. I loved to read about the life of a famous person and Lizzie, Catrina, and Hudson’s journeys, and ability to stand up to their parents.

If I Ever Get Out of Here by Eric L. Gansworth
YA GANSWORTH, E.
This was a good book. At first, I thought it would be boring but it turned out to be interesting. It shows how people even today can discriminate against somebody if he/she is different.

YA GREEN, J.
It rips your heart out, slowly, then all at once. It proves the world is not a wish granting factory.

Insurgent by Veronica Roth
YA ROTH, V.
Insurgent was an amazing book! It was action-packed, a book with murder and sabotage, a book that kept me on the edge of my seat. It was so intense it made me stay awake to the first hours of the morning. I can’t wait to read the sequel Allegiant.

When Dad Killed Mom by Julius Lester
YA LESTER, J.
This book is told from the children’s points of view. It is about how they cope with their mom gone and their dad in jail. The ending was pretty shocking. It is where they piece together why the dad did what he did.

1984 by George Orwell
YA ORWELL, G.
4.9/5 After many years, I’ve read many classics. Many were dull and simply not worth reading. 1984 , however, is a true classic with a haunting message of epic social and political proportions. The only moment I felt bored was when the book was being read in the story. Otherwise, a scary world is masterfully designed that should warn the reader of any of the same happening now.
