Mount Prospect Oral Histories
Collage 2 of MP People for Oral History Page

During the celebration of Mount Prospect’s 75th Anniversary in 1992, the Mount Prospect Historical Society and the Mount Prospect Public Library worked together to interview long-time residents in Mount Prospect about their lives.  These people were asked about their families, work life, and the development of Mount Prospect from a mostly rural village to a vibrant suburban community.  Most of the oral histories are from the early 1990s but others are recordings of talks older residents gave at events such as Mount Prospect Historical Society meetings.  The following is a list of the names of residents who were interviewed.  A few of the recordings and transcripts have been digitized and added to the Illinois Digital Archives.  Links to the digital versions of those recordings are provided.  All of the original tape recordings and transcripts are available in the Harold Weary Genealogy and Local History Collection of the Mount Prospect Public Library.  Copies of these oral histories are also available at the Mount Prospect Historical Society.  The process of digitizing these oral histories is ongoing.
