Public Green Category: Earth Hour

Earth Hour this Saturday, March 31

The Village of Mount Prospect plans to participate in the Earth Hour campaign on Saturday (March 31) by turning off all non-essential lighting from 8:30 – 9:30 p.m. (All essential lighting such as street lights, traffic signals, and public safety lights will remain on.) The aim of Earth Hour is to express that individual action on a mass scale can help change the planet for the better.  Last year, many world famous sites including the Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids of Egypt, and even Wrigley Field remained dark as a symbol of environmental action. Residents are encouraged to particpate as well and the Village encourages people to think beyond the one hour timeframe and think about ways to conserve energy. For more info on Earth Hour, go to .
