Mount Prospect Public Library Releases Annual Report

The Mount Prospect Public Library released its 2019 Annual Report today. The report includes details about services added in 2019, event photos, key statistics and achievements, connections in the community, and the library’s relationship with the Friends and Foundation. A digital copy of the Annual Report is available online (; limited print copies are available at the Main Library and South Branch.

Mount Prospect Public Library Named one of Chicago Tribune's Top Workplaces 2019

For the seventh consecutive year, Mount Prospect Public Library has been awarded a 2019 Top Workplaces honor by the Chicago Tribune. The Chicago Tribune has presented the lists for the past 10 years in the Chicago region. Companies with at least 100 employees are eligible to participate.

“We are delighted to earn this recognition,” said Executive Director Su Reynders. “Every day our employees demonstrate a welcoming environment for each other and our Mount Prospect community. Being friendly and approachable is a natural extension of who we are as a Library, and I see it from how our staff works with each other and our patrons.”

The Top Workplace list is based on employee feedback gathered through anonymous surveys administered by the research firm Energage, which specializes in employee engagement. The surveys measure several aspects of workplace culture, including leadership, communication, and working environment.

Mount Prospect Public Library Names Reynders Next Executive Director

The Mount Prospect Public Library Board of Trustees voted at a special meeting on April 4 to hire Su Reynders to be the next executive director of the Mount Prospect Public Library (MPPL). Current Executive Director Marilyn Genther announced her June retirement this past January.

Reynders comes to MPPL wphoto of Su Reyndersith extensive experience in both libraries and the private sector. She is currently the executive director of the Lincolnwood Public Library District, a position she has held since 2012. Previously, she worked at Reaching Across Illinois Library System as associate executive director as well as Metropolitan Library System in a range of positions, including executive director, director of operations, and special projects coordinator.

“The Mount Prospect Public Library has an established history of providing excellent library services,” said Reynders. “I am excited to build on the Library’s successes so that we can continue to delight the community.”

Before working in libraries, Reynders worked for Technology Asset Management as an asset management consulting manager, and at IBM as a senior implementation specialist.

“Ms. Reynders comes to us with strong executive and management experience,” said Library Board President Sylvia Fulk. “We look forward to her leading the Library into the future along with our strong management team and staff.”

Genther is confident about the team at MPPL and is excited to see Reynders work with the Mount Prospect community.

“The Library is in a good place to transition to new leadership,” said Genther. “We have a great management team and staff, the strategic plan provides clear direction for the immediate future, and the Library continues to have much to offer the residents of Mount Prospect. I leave the Library in excellent hands with Ms. Reynders at the helm.”
