Mount Prospect Public Library Announces Closings

The Mount Prospect Public Library continues to take steps to help limit the spread of COVID-19. In a coordinated effort due to the announcement of local school closures, the Main Library will close Saturday, March 14, at 5 p.m. until further notice. South Branch will close at 3 p.m.

Our actions are guided by available science and information from health and infectious disease experts, and the safety of our patrons and staff is our highest priority.

All due dates have been extended for all checked out materials; no new fines will be accrued during this period. Do not return materials while the library is closed. You may keep them until we’re open. Check our website for up-to-date information and library status: www.mppl.org.

You can help:

  • Stay home.
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Cover coughs and sneezes.
  • Respect social distancing (keeping 6 ft. away from each other).

We appreciate your understanding as we work to promote the safest environment at the library.

COVID-19 Update and Program Cancellations

The Mount Prospect Public Library continues to take steps to help limit the spread of COVID-19. As a preventive health measure, the Main Library and South Branch have canceled all programs, events, and meetings March 1331. This is in response to the World Health Organization declaring a global pandemic and public health officials advocating social distancing and limiting public gatherings. 

Our actions are guided by available science and information from health and infectious disease experts, and the safety of our patrons and staff is our highest priority. 

At this time, the Main Library and South Branch are open for regular serviceBehind the scenes, the Building Services team is taking special care to clean highly touched areas of the library. Plus, no new fines will be accrued from March 12 through March 31. 

You can help: 

  • Stay home and take care of yourself if you are sick (or your child).
  • Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Cover coughs and sneezes.
  • Respect social distancing (keeping 6 ft. away from each other).
