Fiction/AV/Teen Assistant – Fiction/AV/Teen Department

Two part time positions available. The Fiction/AV/Teen Assistant staffs a busy popular materials service desk serving both adults and teens, and may have additional tasks and projects to work on. Bachelor’s degree and computer skills required. $14.80 hourly pay.

Position A (average 17 hours per week)
Extra tasks include program assistance for teen librarians; scheduling flexibility and an enthusiasm for working with teen patrons are desired.

Tuesday   2 pm to 6 pm
Wednesday   2 pm to 6 pm
Thursday   2 pm to 6 pm
Friday   4 pm to 8 pm

Participation in weekend rotation (roughly 1 in 10):
Saturday   9 am to 5 pm
Sunday   noon to 5 pm

Position B (average 25 hours per week)
Extra tasks include assistance with collections, particularly movies and television. Flexibility for program assistance is desired. IMRF position.

Monday   1 pm to 6 pm
Tuesday   1 pm to 6 pm
Wednesday   5 pm to 9 pm
Thursday   1 pm to 6 pm
Friday   1 pm to 6 pm

Participation in Friday evening rotation (roughly 1 in 9):
Friday   6 pm to 10 pm

Assistant Department Head for Operations Coordination – Fiction/AV/Teen Department

Opportunity to join the leadership team of a department offering friendly and expert popular materials service to adults and teens. Duties include oversight of public desk service, staff supervision, scheduling a busy department, oversight of promotion and support for e-media services, staff training, and coordination of programming. With Assistant Department Head for Collection and Advisory Services, this position is in charge of the Department in the absence of the Department Head. Candidates must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, flexibility, effective communication skills, and a strong affinity for popular materials. The position requires supervisory experience; minimum of five years experience in a public service department; and Masters in Library Science from an ALA accredited school. Day hours 9 am to 5 pm with one evening shift per week and participation in the Friday evening and weekend rotations. Annual pay $51,000. Benefits and IMRF.
