Teen Services Librarian – Fiction/AV/Teen Department

The Mount Prospect Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, outgoing team player for the full-time position of Teen Services Librarian. Primary duties include planning and executing creative, engaging programming for teen patrons grades six through twelve both inside and outside the Library (including STEAM programming). Collaborating with the other Teen Services Librarian, this position acts as an advocate for teen patrons, fosters teen engagement, and develops teen services within the Fiction/AV/Teen Department. Other duties include staffing a public desk providing popular materials services for both adults and teens, working with other staff for school and community outreach, and participation in programming for adults. Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school required. Public Service experience in a public library highly desirable. Experience with program planning a plus. Must have valid Illinois Driver’s License. Spanish fluency skills preferred. Schedule:  Full-time. 37.5 hours per week. Day hours Monday through Friday with one evening shift and participation in Friday and weekend rotations. Schedule subject to change if need arises. The schedule will be flexed to accommodate additional evenings and weekends for programming and outreach activities. Annual salary is $46,300. Benefits and IMRF.

Fiction Librarian – Fiction/AV/Teen Department

The Mount Prospect Public Library is seeking a highly service-oriented and organized reader for the full-time position of Fiction Librarian in the Fiction/AV/Teen Department. This position coordinates Library-sponsored book discussion groups, acts as discussion leader, and organizes resources for other groups and discussion leaders. In cooperation with the Assistant Department Head for Collection and Advisory Services, this position functions as lead selector for the adult fiction collection and coordinates other adult fiction selectors. Other duties include advisory resource creation and staffing a public desk providing popular materials services for both adults and teens. The successful candidate will be flexible and able to work well with others. Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school required. Public Service experience in a public library required. Experience with collection development a plus. Schedule: Full-time. 37.5 hours per week. Day hours Monday through Friday with one evening shift and participation in Friday and weekend rotations. Schedule subject to change if need arises. Annual salary is $46,300. Benefits and IMRF.
