New position. The Mount Prospect Public Library (Illinois) is seeking a strategic leader. Working collaboratively with MPPL’s public service departments, the Collection Resource Manager will ensure that the various collections support and further the Library’s mission and strategic collection goals. Bring your expertise with print, audiovisual and digital resources to a library that places a high value on the quality and depth of its collection offerings. The successful candidate will fully embrace the Library’s core service values and support the organizational culture. Position directly supervises Page Supervisor. Member of the leadership team. Position requires excellent communication and management skills, decisiveness, ability to think strategically and conceptually, demonstrate a positive and flexible approach to problem solving, and be able to work collaboratively with all levels of staff and work styles. MLS from ALA accredited library school required. Minimum of three years in professional Librarian position and experience with collection management, adult collection development, public service and supervisory experience required. This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week, position with benefits and IMRF. Annual salary: $51,000

Acquisitions Manager – Collection and Bibliographic Services

New position. The Mount Prospect Public Library (Illinois) is seeking an Acquisitions Manager to manage all aspects of the acquisitions function, including serials management, standing order and subscription management, digital media maintenance, electronic resource maintenance, and to oversee all business and operational-related tasks. This position will compile the relevant data, analyze and report on collection budget trends and patterns, and forecast those trends using mathematical models and statistical techniques. Manager will work collaboratively with department heads, Business Manager, and the Collection Resource Manager. Position directly supervises the Acquisitions Supervisor, Acquisitions Clerk and the Mail/Periodicals Clerk. Member of the leadership team. Requires excellent communication skills, ability to interpret and explain data, excellent Excel skills, a positive and flexible approach to problem solving, ability to think strategically, excellent management skills, ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff and work styles, knowledge of library acquisitions best practices and processes, and knowledge of public agency purchasing practices. MLS from ALA accredited library school required. Minimum of three years in professional Librarian position and experience with adult collection development, public service experience and supervisory required.
