Executive Director – Mount Prospect Public Library

The Board of Trustees of the Mount Prospect Public Library seeks a dedicated leader and manager to be Executive Director. The Mount Prospect Public Library is a mid-size, independent public library located about 20 miles northwest of Chicago in the Village of Mount Prospect, Illinois with one branch library.  Do you have a passion for collaboration, community, public service, collections and learning?  This is an exceptional opportunity to direct and lead a Chicago Tribune’s Chicagoland Top Workplace and be an active member and leader in the community.

The Director:
Communicates the library’s vision and role to the community and staff
Fosters an excellent work environment that attracts and retains dedicated staff
Ensures the Library’s strategic directions, goals and deadlines are fulfilled
Plans and coordinates the operation and administration of the Library
Responsible for fiscal management

Requires an individual with the following qualities:
Analytical and project management skills
Demonstrated coaching and mentorship
Demonstrated service approach
Enthusiasm for relationship building and engaging others inside and outside of the Library.
Excellent communication and writing skills
Demonstrated leadership
Strategic thinking

Required:
ALA accredited Master’s Degree in Library Science
Progressively responsible management experience in public library. Minimum of seven years executive level experience

Compensation
Salary $120,000/year (negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications)
