House Rules

House Rules book coverGinny of Information Services recommends House Rules by Jodi Picoult:

Jacob, an 18-year-old with Asperger’s syndrome, follows single mom Emma’s house rules as naturally as anyone who requires constant routine to maintain their emotional well-being.  Emma has built their family’s life around Jacob and his needs. That routine is strictly followed; meals are color coded for the day of the week and diet is restricted to prevent meltdowns. Jacob is also obsessed with forensic science and the TV series Crimebusters.  When his grad student tutor is found dead, Emma and his younger brother, Theo, fear Jacob’s obsession may have involved him with the death. Accused of murder, Emma hires a young lawyer who struggles with Jacob’s Asperger’s complications while trying to clear the boy’s name.
