A Living Nightmare

Dark City DVD coverWaking to find himself in a bathroom he doesn’t recognize, John Murdoch stumbles around a strange apartment, frantically searching for clues to his identity.  The phone rings, and an agitated voice tells him not to panic.  That proves difficult when Murdoch spots a bloody body on the floor.  Dark City, a 1998 film starring Rufus Sewell, Kiefer Sutherland, and William Hurt, is often cited as one of the best science fiction films you’ve never seen.  The Matrix, released one year later, used some of the same sets and themes. Echoes of the villains, known as The Strangers in Dark City, appeared as The Gentlemen in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  From the director of The Crow and I, Robot, Dark City promises mind-bending thrills.
