Mount Prospect Public Library maintains adult and youth Local Author Collections for works written by authors living or having lived in Mount Prospect. These collections are donation-based, and authors wishing to have their work considered for inclusion must:
- Complete the online form.
- Live or have lived in Mount Prospect.
- Agree to donate a physical copy of the book to the library.
- Provide a bound copy of the book with a binding strong enough to withstand multiple readings/circulations.
- Agree that books accepted into the collection become the property of MPPL and are subject to the library’s collection development and maintenance criteria as outlined in the Collection Development Policy.
Please also note the following guidelines:
- Only one (1) copy will be accepted.
- World language materials must contain an ISBN (international standard book number) in order to be cataloged.
- Audiovisual works, e-books, and print works with CDs and DVDs are not accepted at this time.
- Books that are primarily generated, authored, or written by artificial intelligence are also not accepted, per the library’s Collection Development Policy.
