Reachout.com is a new website for teens that provides resources to help you deal with hard issues or problems that come up in life. On the website you’ll find fact sheets like the one for Challenging Negative Self Talk. These fact sheets are helpful if you are dealing with a problem, or if you have a friend or family member with a problem and you want to learn more. There’s also real stories from other teens posted in writing or as videos. You’ll also find the reachout.com blog, a link to their Twitter feed and Facebook page, and a Get Help page that gives you contacts and other resources for getting help now.
May is Mental Health Awareness month, so there’s a lot going on at reachout.com right now. One thing that I think is pretty cool is the Reach Out Reads page. YALSA teamed up with reachout.com to provide a reading list of books on specific topics that might help teens learn more or deal with problems. There’s also a lineup of author chats for the entire month, so be sure to check out reachout.com and find the books featured on the site at the Library.
