A ton of teen novels are being turned into movies!

Next weekend (February 18) the movie I am Number Four hits theaters.  I am sure you have seen trailers for the movie.  If not, here’s the latest one:

Click here and you can also find the book I am Number Four by Pittacus Lore at the Library.

On March 18, the movie Beastly will be released.  Beastly by Alex Flinn is a really great read.  Flinn’s retelling is of the Beauty and the Beast fairy tale is really authentic and I enjoyed how she updated the classic tale to fit in modern times.  Click here to find Beastly by Alex Flinn at the Library!

Of course there’s also Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2 out on July 15, 2011 and the Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn part 1 on November 18, 2011.

Here are a bunch of Teen novels that are either rumored to be in production or are definitely in pre-production:

Incarceron by Catherine Fischer
According to Deadline, Taylor Lautner will play the character of Finn in the movie production. It is also rumored that Emma Watson is being considered for the female lead as Claudia.  The book’s setting is in one giant prison, Incarceron, a technologically advanced structure with a mind of its own.  Finn is inside the prison, and cannot remember his past but feels that he does not belong in Incarceron.  Claudia, is on the outside of the prison and the warden’s daughter.  She is longing to escape her arranged marriage.  Both Finn and Claudia try to help each other escape their respective prisons.  Look for Incarceron, the movie, in 2013, but find the book in the Library by clicking here!

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky
According to this report, Emma Watson and Logan Lerman are already on board to play Sam and Charlie, respectively.  The exciting news is something that usually doesn’t happen when a book gets turned into a movie–Stephen Chbosky, the author, will be writing and directing the movie.  Click here to find The Perks of Being a Wallflower in the Library’s catalog and read this classic teen novel today!

The City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Deadline is also reporting that Lily Collins will star in the movie production of Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series.  Collins will play the character Clary Fray.  The movie, which looks to be coming out in 2012, will be based on the first book in the series The City of Bones.  In the first book of the series, we meet Clary who is dragged into the world of the Shadowhunters when she and her mother are both targeted by the demons.  Click here to find City of Bones in the Library!

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
According to this article, Selena Gomez has just recently been added to the film and she will play Hannah Baker.  It should be interesting to see how this movie develops because in the book, Hannah Baker has committed suicide and before she died she recorded 13 reasons onto cassette tapes about why she killed herself.  Clay, the main character in the novel, receives these tapes and has to figure out why he is connected to Hannah’s suicide.  Will we only hear Selena’s voice in the movie?  Click here to find Thirteen Reasons Why at the Library.

RUMORED: Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr
IMDB is reporting that Vince Vaughn is going to produce this movie in 2012.

Of course there’s also the Hunger Games movie which I previously posted about.  No update yet on who will be starring in the film.
