The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke

syndetics-lcI listened to The Thief Lord by Cornelia Funke on CD and I think Simon Jones does a really good job reading it.  This is a tale of two runaway brothers who find a home with the “Thief Lord” of Venice, and it turns into an adventure beyond their wildest dreams.  Between the author choosing every word just perfectly and Simon Jones having a different voice for each character, I felt like I was in the middle of the story.  Chase scenes, surprises, mystery, villains, fantasy…this story has it all so check it out!

I’m a fan of most of Cornelia Funke’s work, but I think that “The Thief Lord” is my favorite. I also listened to it, and I agree that Simon Jones does a fantastic job; a lot of great books have great audio renditions, that give a unique experience. Another of Funke’s books that is a great audio book is inkheart, read by Lynn Redgrave.
