The I.R.S. participated in a MoneySmart program last week and we wanted to make the materials avaible to those who were not able to attend.  Both publications contatin valuable information regarding what income is taxable, pensions/IRA withdrawals, unemployment compensation, and where to receive clarification for expenses incurred while searching for a position with your field.

Sears, Kmart to tweet 7,000 jobs

Sears Holding Corp. said Wednesday that more than 7,000 job openings at Sears and Kmart will be posted on Twitter, a move experts say is a way to advertise and market its brands to 18- to 34-year-olds, the mainstay of the social networking site.

Harper College is hosting a Job Fair soon:  Friday 3/12/10 at 11a-3p.  It is free and open to the public at the Wellness and Sports Center Lower Level.  Another community event, Prepare for the Job Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, 3/3/10 at 5:30p-8p in the Wojcik Conference Center

More Job Networking

Successful job networking is a key in finding employment opportunities.  The Office of Career Services at Roosevelt University has gathered a list of some recommended community networking groups: Download Networking Lists.

Another helpful networking group you may want to look into is called the Gray Hair Management. This networking groups meets at various locations during the month. A library patron has kindly shared a list of some upcoming events in the Chicagoland area for February.

The Library posts individual sessions offered by the St. Hubert Job and Networking Ministry on resume review and job preparation on our job and career board, located near the Reference Desk.  The Ministry meets the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 7:00-9:15 p.m. at the St. Hubert’s Parish Ministry Center, 729 Grand Canyon Street in Hoffman Estates.  Call 847-885-7700 or visit
