Mount Prospect residents interested in serving on the Mount Prospect Public Library’s Board of Trustees are invited to apply for the trustee position that is open following the resignation of Barbara Burns. The appointed individual will fulfill the vacancy until the next trustee election on April 7, 2015.
Burns resigned from the Library Board of Trustees as of the end of January when she moved out of Mount Prospect and could no longer serve on the board.
“We will miss Barbara very much. She has been a strong advocate for library services as a resident, Friends member, volunteer, and trustee,” said Executive Director Marilyn Genther.
Burns joined the Friends of the Library Board in 2003, where she served as treasurer. She was elected to the Library Board in 2009 and again in 2013. In addition to her Friends and Board work, Burns worked on the 1994 and 2004 referenda campaigns and committees.
MPPL trustees and staff thank Burns for her time and devotion to the Library, and wish her success in her new endeavors.
Anyone interested in serving as a Library trustee can request an application and informational packet from the Library’s Administration office. The application should be submitted to Library Board President John Zulaski by March 24.
