The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm by Nancy Farmer

The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm Looking for a good science fiction book? “The Ear, the Eye , & the Arm ” is a good one. It’s about these three kids(they’re African) named  Tendai, Rita, & Kuda whose parents never let them go beyond their house. However, one day the three of them sneak out- and get kidnapped. So, their parents call a very strange detective agency- the Ear, the Eye, & the Arm.The Ear can hear from a very, very far distance, the Eye can see extremeley far, and the Arm can feel what other people are feeling.I won’t tell you the rest, but believe me , if you give this book a try, you’ll be glad you did!

The Naked Mole-Rat Letters by Mary Amato

Naked Mole-Rat Letters How many e-mails do you have? The average is about three per person. In The Naked Mole-Rat Letters by Mary Amato, Frankie and her family share one email. Due to this, Frankie discovers that her widowed father is having a relationship with a zookeeper named Ayanna Bayo, or as Frankie calls her “Ratlady”. Frankie, who has been deeply affected by the death of her mother, hatches a devious plan to remove this woman who works with the naked-mole rats from her father’s love life. What started out as a small idea eventually morphs into a massive pack of lies and phony excuses. This humorous book, told through diary entries and e-mails, teaches the momentousness of honesty, acceptance, and growing as a person.

Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick

Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie Do you have a sibling or family member that can sometimes annoy you? All of us have one. In Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick, thirteen year old Steven is constantly embarrassed and hassled by his adorable brother Jeffrey. Jeffrey often tells Steven’s friends and crushes about some of Steven’s drum techniques (waving drumsticks in front of the bathroom mirror in his blue underwear) and he also makes “Dangerous Pie” using Steven’s drumsticks. Despite Jeffrey’s tormenting habits, Steven loves his five-year old brother just the same. Everything carries on as usual. At least until October. That month, the family discovers that Jeffrey has leukemia, a form of cancer. As his parents struggle to pay the ridiculously high medical bills, Steven attempts to keep his emotions under control. This novel is an inspiring tale of the ordeal of cancer and the extreme importance of  hope and loyalty to the ones you love. I highly recommend this book.
