Patriotic Lantern
Idea from Martha Stewart’s Kids- Summer 2005
Supplies
Blue construction paper- cut to 6 x 9 inches (or can use full sheet of paper)
White paper strips (about a half inch wide)
Red paper strips ( about 1 x 8 )
White stars (cut from paper or use foam stars)
Glue sticks
Stapler
Scissors
Tape
Red crayons and markers
Directions
- Cut slits from the middle fold to the rims, spacing about ¾ inch apart.

- Color red stripes on 2 white paper strips. Glue the strips along the top and bottom rims


- Shape into lantern by opening the paper and bringing the ends together to overlap slightly. Staple together at the top and bottom.

- Staple a red handle inside the top on both sides.

- Glue on the white stars.
