Send Us Your Seventies
Now that you know we’ve been around for 70 years, you may start seeing sevens everywhere – on a sign, in an address, or maybe even in a pattern. If you see a seven, snap a picture of it and post it on our Facebook page. Check the page for some examples and to see what other patrons have found.
Share Your Library Memories
A school project we helped with in the 1980s, your favorite place in the 1960s to read a book, a librarian who introduced you to a favorite author in the 1990s, a program that your child loved last year – what are your favorite library memories? We would love to hear them, and to hear how we have touched patrons’ lives for 70 years. Entries will be drawn at random for prizes.
Random Acts of Giving
Attend one of our Seven Signature Events and you may leave with a prize! Because our 70th birthday was made possible with the support of our patrons, we are giving you the gifts. A library staff member will be handing out small tokens of our appreciation at randomly selected events throughout the year.
The Mount Prospect Public Library started out with 300 second-hand books on a single tier of shelves. In 1943 a referendum created a tax-supported Library. Today our annual circulation tops one million items in two locations that feature programs and services for all ages. Take a closer look at the Library’s past.
Watch for history-themed Library display cases around the building and enjoy scenes from our history.
