About Borrowing
Checking Out Items
Before checking out, you can have up to seven items in your cart, which will remain there for 30 minutes before they are automatically removed. You can have up to five titles checked out at any given time. The default loan period for most items is fourteen days; the option for a seven-day checkout is also available for most items.
Holding Items
You can place holds on unavailable items; up to seven titles can be on hold at a time. When an item becomes available for you, you will be notified at the e-mail address you provide. It will be available for 72 hours from the time the e-mail was sent.
Returning Items
There are no overdue fees for items; however, you will be unable to use items after their loan period has expired. Adobe e-books can be returned early using Adobe Digital Editions. EPUB e-books can be returned early using the OverDrive Media Console app for Android, BlackBerry, or iPhone/iPad. Kindle editions can be returned early using the Manage Your Kindle page at Amazon.com. At this time, audiobooks cannot be returned early.
Renewing Items
Titles cannot be renewed, but you can check them out again if they are available when the checkout period ends.
What is OverDrive Advantage?
While most of the titles available at MyMediaMall are available to patrons of all member libraries, titles purchased using the OverDrive Advantage Program are available exclusively to patrons of the library that purchased the titles. The Mount Prospect Public Library does offer this extra material to its patrons.
